On the 2nd ENVITED User Meeting, which took place on 20th November 2019 at fka GmbH in Aachen, the Automotive Solution Center for Simulation e.V. announced a new work group to establish a global ecosystem for all stakeholders involved in the virtual validation and verification process of highly automated and autonomous driving: ENVITED ecosystem
Automated driving in combination with connectivity offers great potential for increasing traffic and occupant safety. The proof of safe operation according to ISO 26262 is regarded as the greatest challenge of autonomous driving technology. The number of proofs to be performed for safe functionality will far exceed the level of possible human testing. Virtual validation is becoming an essential part of development processes. Standards for model and system interchange are vital for cross-company and cross-domain virtual integration and simulation of HAD functions.
The ENVITED ecosystem work group will define a methodology for standard data based virtual proof of validation. All test items, methods, tools, boundary conditions and results (proof-items) used for this proof should be documented in a one-to-one and traceable way. The aim is to make reusability and multiple usability of the proof items possible with simultaneous confidentiality. The result will be a platform on which all stakeholders involved in the validation and verification process can make their necessary contribution or request the result to be checked.
The work group plans an agile procedure over different proof of concept approaches, that successive build on one another. This will gradually connect and integrate all ecosystem stakeholders into the emerging platform. Blockchain was selected as the technology for this connection and proof, since this is due to its basic function in a special way for the described problems.
In January 2020 an excursion will lead the work group members to Paris, France. There they will visit a core developer team of the Tezos Blockchain at Nomadic Labs. The experts at Nomadic Labs are working on research and development on distributed, decentralized, and formally verified software.
Workgroup members include automotive manufacturers such as AUDI, BMW, Daimler and Porsche, as well as other ENVITED Partners.
